Lately we feel that competitions have gotten away from the true art of dance. We find that fewer and fewer students are able to realize the positive aspects of competing if they don't 'win', and depression inevitably follows. We feel that performing in the community is a better way for the students to express themselves and share their art.
We are creating an umbrella group called The Dance Factory which will encompass all of the performing that we do - community, competition, & the Leap of Faith praise group. Every dancer will get a chance to perform, though not everyone will compete. The Dance Factory is open to all students, providing they make themselves available for rehearsals and performances and are willing to comply with the group's policies. Joining the Dance Factory does not require you to join Leap of Faith.
The current Saturday competition practice will now be rehearsal for all performances - both competition and community.
The Dance Factory Equipment Package is $75.
Students may join until January.

COMMUNITY PERFORMANCES

We perform at local nursing homes and other community events.
Dancers in this group will need to purchase an equipment package. This ensures that all dancers have the same color and style of dancewear, shoes and accessories to wear for performances. It will eliminate the search for matching costumes and allow all Dance Factory dancers to perform together. Black low-top dance sneakers and tan lyrical shoes are the required shoes. Your payment of $75 will provide you with versitile dancewear/costume pieces for all styles of dance.

COMPETITION

We will still be competing at the Performing Arts Alliance competition, as well as checking out some others, though our participation will be lessening. Students that exhibit the dedication, drive and mental toughness needed to truly benefit from this experience will be approached by Ms Sharon.
Competition students are automatically a part of the community group, though they may choose not join the Leap of Faith dancers.
Competition expenses include entrance fees, choreography & media fees*, as well as the hotel and travel costs.
*media fees will be changing format due to a change in the competition requirements. All fees will start with a base price of $10 per student, in addition to the charge for editing each song. Look for more info in your competition paperwork.

LEAP OF FAITH

Leap of Faith is a praise group that performs at local churches and church sponsored events. Any Dance Factory Member may join, though it is not mandatory. Dancers will wear items from their Dance Factory Equipment Package for their performances.
